Adoption tips and resources

  • Budget for your new friend using tools like PetFinder's "Cost of Cat Ownership" calculator.

    • If you find that now isn't the right time to adopt, try fostering or volunteering with us!

  • Think about different facets of your home and lifestyle when considering a new cat. Below are a few suggestions to get you started.

    • Are you away from home often for work, travel, or other commitments?

    • Do you have small children or other pets in the house?

    • Do you have anyone in the house who may be put at risk with the presence of a cat, such as individuals with allergies, compromised immune systems, or diabetes? Ask your primary care physician if you are unsure.

  • If you are open to adopting more than one cat, consider litter mates. This will ensure that the cats are already familiar with one another (and likely get along well) and can help them adjust to their new home together.

  • Do you have experience raising cats? If this is your first time owning a cat (or it's been awhile since you've had one in your home), do some research and maybe even a "trial run" to see if they're the right pet for your household.

    • Consult cat owner resources (websites, videos, books, etc.) and talk to other cat owners.

    • Try fostering for or volunteering at Kitten Krazy.

    • Request an Adoption Consultation.
